The rise of the Internet has speed up the liberalization of telecommunication. As a result, previously high-priced bandwidths have gradually become more affordable. This reduction in price has become a catalyst in online transactions, communication, entertainment, and learning in all function of business.

The virtual Internet world is similar to the real world. A company tends to select a virtual city with good infrastructure and comprehensive management to start a business. A customer tends to shop within clusters of stores with easy access. Whether it is a network builder or a network user, its related equipment need to co-locate in facilities with high space utilization, high quality and high stability.

UniGate Space's service aim to maximize its partners' facility satisfaction provide a 99.999% high availability and stability structure. In addition to the hardware facility, we have TYPE I telecommunication carriers' circuit and TYPE II value-added network operators' traffics under a comprehensive management system, professional facility management staff, flexible policies, and convenient location are add-on values to our customers.

UniGate Space includes two major types:

1.UniGate Co-Lo:

It provides partners with separate Private Room or Cage.

2.UniGate Hosting:

It provides partners with Closed Cabinet, Open Rack or Open Space in common area.

UniGate Space divides its facility construction into eight categories: Land, Building, Power, Air-Conditioning, Fire-Extinguishing, Environment-Monitoring, Access Control and Communication Circuits.

1. Land:

In the selection of overall environment, must satisfy the following 6 key criteria: high rise, solid ground, sufficient power, enough circuits, convenient traffic, and good living infrastructure.

2. Building:

The building requirement is very stringent in all respects. Structure designs, floor loading, riser/conduit planning, EMI insulation, space utilization or the moving path consideration, are meeting the high international standards.

3. Power:

It not only has its own high voltage substation, but also its own dual circuit uninterrupted power supply system (UPS). Each single loop of UPS system is 2+2 in parallel in average load and 3+1 in parallel in maximum load. It is also equipped with a Hitachi made multi-loop busway power system, an intelligent dual loop automatic power control panel, a set of high capacity power generators of 2+2 in average load and 3+1in maximum load, an oil tank capable of holding over 48 hours usage of oil and an outdoor refueling pipe. All these are important for maintaining stable and clean power.

4. Air-conditioning:

In the air-conditioning system, UniGate selects stand-alone computer-controlled constant temperature and humidity, downward air blow and water-cooling systems with 2+2 in average load and 3+1 in maximum load design spec as well. The cooling tower is also of 2+2 in average load and 3+1 in maximum load design spec. The water supply for air-conditioning is of dual loop, plus spare reservoir and outdoor water supply inlet.

5. Fire-extinguishing:

In the fire-extinguishing system, UniGate adopts the Very Early Smoke Detecting Alarm (VESDA) and FM-200 gas type fire-extinguishing systems. There are also portable CO2 fire extinguishers for emergencies.

6. Environment Monitoring:

In the monitoring system, UniGate uses GUI-interfaced monitoring software. In addition to monitoring power, air-conditioning and telecommunication systems, the system also has a water leakage detection system. Aside from the 24-hour main monitoring system in NOC center, there are also monitoring systems in each building, each floor or each partner's premise that also function as regional monitoring sub-systems.

7. Access Control:

UniGate Space imposes extremely strict access control. In addition to 24-hour intensive CCTV surveillance taping, there are security guards checking ID's by the entrances at all times. Each elevator is also equipped with contact-type, magnetic card system that restricts floor access by coded ID card. Fingerprint-identification systems are installed at the entrance of each machine room on every floor. Unauthorized personnel are not permitted to enter. Various access control systems can also be installed to Closed Cabinet or Private Cage per customer's request.

8. Communication Circuit:

In communication circuits, it is a hub of multiple international, long distance and local circuits. For fixed line, there are fiber optical cables and unshielded twisted cooper wire circuits. For wireless transmission, there are satellite and microwave channels. Furthermore, the data exchange and voice switching centers (refer to UniGate Switching services) in this facility allow easy trading and transactions among fellow partners located in this facility.

UniGate Space's service has a stringent and complete management system and provides the partners with various services, such as environment management, equipment management, network management, circuits management and personnel management. UniGate Space's service is flexible to meet the need of each partner; it may be an outright sale, a term lease or a profit sharing operation. UniGate Space plays a key role in building up the infrastructure of a virtual city.
